I’m currently studying at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication (UO SOJC) pursuing a Bachelor of Science with double majors in Journalism and Media Studies alongside an Ethics minor. Graduating in the spring, I aim to cover stories with trauma-informed, community-centered approaches.

I’m a writing intern and rotating podcast host for the SOJC Communications team. I’m also the Editor-in-Chief of Align Magazine, an arts and culture platform with an emphasis on lifestyle and fashion run by UO students and the largest organization on campus. I also produce, edit, and periodically host our biweekly podcast, Align on Air.

Additionally, I’m an investigative reporter for the Daily Emerald.

Throughout my time at the SOJC, I’ve also taken numerous classes within the Game Studies minor to expand my skills in game journalism and gamification.

If I’m not writing at a coffee shop or editing audio at home, you’ll find me playing both digital and analog games with friends or utilizing my streaming services.

I joined Align Magazine, a student-run arts, lifestyle, fashion, and culture publication, my first year of college as a writer and became the Executive Writing Editor my third year. Now, as the Editor, I keep the student media organization afloat logistically, directing both print and digital departments and supporting 200 plus members, managing a $60,000 budget, and ensuring the printing of 1,000 magazine copies three times a year.

Through my courses at the SOJC, I’ve worked on a plethora of news stories where I’ve either been on an assignment or pitched myself. The SOJC fosters newsroom environments within applicable classrooms where students are met with hard deadlines and a competitive but collaborative atmosphere.

In my third year of college, I started writing feature stories of alumni profiles, faculty research stories, blogs, featured student work articles, and some news stories for the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication.

To practice news writing even further, I started working for the on campus newspaper the Daily Emerald as an investigative reporter.

Considering the booming gaming industry and my interest in gaming, I took a few game studies courses at the SOJC: Studying Games, Game Journalism and Newsgames, and Media Production with a focus on analog games. Through my course, I created a card game based on the SOJC, newsgame on press freedom, and pieces of game journalism like stories on gaming sexism and game reviews.

As audio storytelling and podcasts became more popular in recent years, when an audio storytelling opportunity opened up for me as a host for the UO SOJC, I was eager to take it. With newfound confidence in podcasting and podcast planning, I spearheaded the launch of Align Magazine’s brand new podcast, “Align on Air,” which features creative UO students. I now produce, edit, and periodically host this podcast.
